Fine Arts Class Schedule

Fine Arts Class Objective:

ART 1
Ages 5-12
Instructor: Sarita Rodriguez (often referred to as miss rosa)

I would like to let you know in advance that during the duration of this course you may be asked to bring in simple supplies for the class, if you unable to purchase these supplies please let me know ahead of time. I also ask that you send your child with a 9x12 Acid Free 50 sheet SKETCH PAD. Please be care full when you are buying this that the cover of the pad says SKETCH on it and not water color or stencil this is an entirely different type of paper and will make it harder for me to teach concepts. I recommend the Canson brand pads, they are inexpensive and good quality. Color pencils and no. 2 pencils are welcome donations at any time during the course.

Goal: In the 21 days of this course your child will learn the Element of Art and develop a vocabulary of elementary artistic concepts as well as how to create simple stage props.

By the end of this course your child should be able to
1. Know how to properly use their tools of art (ex. How to hold and apply a No. 4 pencil correctly)
2. Understand line quality
3. Know the difference between coloring and shading and be able to apply it to their art
4. Have a simple understanding of hue and texture
5. Understand and apply point of view
6. Understand and apply stage prop laws

As a result of previous issues I ask that you speak with your child about respecting their supplies and not breaking pencils or any other tools available to them during the course. I also ask that you talk to them about respecting other children’s art work as I will reinforce this is the classroom. I, in return , promise to foster an environment where your child can learn and grow in their talents as well as promise to teach them to the best of my abilities.
